Holy Trinity Hospital

Located on the
northeastern
shore of
Lake Toqua,
Holy Trinity Hospital is the "Hospital with
a View".

Holy Trinity Hospital is a 15-bed Critical Access Hospital with both acute care and swing beds available.

Holy Trinity Hospital offers many services including:

EMERGENCY CARE:
Emergency Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the Holy Trinity Hospital Emergency Room.

SWING BED:
Our patients are precious - and so is their time, especially when they're recovering from surgery or an accident. For those in recovery who still require daily skilled nursing, physical therapy or rehabilitation, Holy Trinity Hospital has a program to fit that need - Swing Bed. The Holy Trinity Hospital Swing Bed Unit is dedicated to helping our patients get back to their lives.

RADIOLOGY:
The Radiology department offers in-house Diagnostic Radiography and Computed Tomography (CT) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The new Mammography Suite provides women the opportunity to have a mammagram 5 days a week. The Radiology department also provides Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, and Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) through a moblie service.

LABORATORY:
Graceville Health Center Lab is under the medical direction of board certified pathologists from Fergus Falls, MN and the lab is accredited by COLA. GHC Lab is certified as a highly complex laboratory providing the following services: Microbiology, Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Immunology, Transfusion Medicine, and Electrocardiogram (EKG) testing. Lab staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY:
The GHC Occupational Therapy Department focuses on skilled treatment that helps individuals achieve independence in all areas of their lives. The OT Department helps GHC patients and residents develop the skills for living independent and satisfying lives. Our
Occupational Therapists are particularly skilled in assessing and managing personal and environmental risk factors in all activities for older adults. OT helps Grace Home residents avoid health problems and makes it easier for them to live with existing conditions.

The OT Department's main focus is helping Grace Home residents maintain as much independence as possible by working on upper body strength, dressing, toileting, and other daily activities. Occupational Therapists are also available to help Holy Trinity Hospital patients during rehabilitation after injuries and/or surgeries.

PHYSICAL THERAPY:
Physical therapy focuses on developing, maintaining and restoring maximum movement and functional ability throughout a person's life. Physcial Therapists work with patients when movement and function are threatened by the process of aging or that of injury or disease. The method of physical therapy sees full and functional movement as at the heart of what it means to be healthy.

Physical therapy is concerned with identifying and maximizing movement potential, within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. It involves the interaction between physical clients, families and care givers, in a process of assessing movement potential and in establishing agreed upon goals and objectives using knowledge and skills unique to physical therapists.

Big Stone Therapies, Inc. provides Physical Therapy to patients at Graceville Health Center and is staffed by Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, PT/OT assistants and Athletic Trainers. The staff provides daily inpatient and outpatient rehab services. In addition staff provide Athletic Training coverage to area schools. Big Stone Therapies also employs a certified massage therapist.

SLEEP DISORDERS PROGRAM:
Holy Trinity Hospital's Sleep Disorders Program helps treat patients who have trouble getting a good night's sleep. It's estimated that up to 15% of the population has respiratory-related sleep problems. The most common of these is Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

People with Sleep Apnea actually stop breathing while they are asleep, for a period ranging from a few seconds to more than a minute. Loud snoring, along with excessive daytime drowsiness, are associated with Sleep Apnea. In addition, Sleep Apnea has been linked to heart problems, weight gain, impotence and even sudden death while sleeping. It can also be associated with high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and possibly shortened life span.

Diagnosis of a sleep disorder begins with a thorough history and physical examination. If further diagnostic work-up is required, a sleep evaluation study may be conducted. Patient education and continual follow-up after diagnosis ensure that each patient achieves some form of relief. Their treatments can include behavioral therapy, weight loss, the application of continuous positive airway pressure during sleep, the judicious use of medicines or, in some cases, surgical intervention.

Holy Trinity Hospital works with Winmar Diagnostics to diagnose and treat sleep apnea. Winmar Diagnostics is a private, independent laboratory specializing in ambulatory and inpatient sleep disorder testing. Winmar has contributed to national standardization of ambulatory polysomnography, and works closely with physicians to provide patients with diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation necessary for treatment of sleep breathing disorders.
